🏞️ About the Kedarnath Trek
The Kedarnath trek begins from Gaurikund, a small pilgrim village
nestled at about 6,500 feet above sea level. From here, it's a 16 km
uphill trek to reach the Kedarnath Temple—an iconic shrine that forms
part of the revered Char Dham Yatra and Panch Kedar. Along the trail,
travelers are rewarded with lush valleys, cascading waterfalls,
snow-capped peaks, and a sense of peace rarely found elsewhere. The
Mandakini River flows alongside for most of the route, adding a serene
soundtrack to the challenging climb. The route has been significantly
rebuilt after the 2013 floods, and now includes paved pathways, rest
stops, and helicopter services for those with time or mobility
constraints. However, trekking to Kedarnath on foot remains a deeply
fulfilling experience for spiritual and nature-driven travelers alike.
